I have searched this up and cannot find a real answer. Sometimes my searches come up with federal income tax. I am really confused and have a project that needs me to calculate federal tax of the provided paycheck. It gives me the percentage for income tax but not federal.

Often when people say income tax they are referring to federal income tax. Most states, and many cities or local areas, have an income tax also.
